— Youth Uncensored Vision
Youth Uncensored Pre-Conference powered by SisterSong Let's Talk About Sex (LTAS) Conference, is a space for young leaders from across the nation who work in or have interest in social justice movement building and community organizing. The lessons learned and conversation within this space will move the needle forward towards reproductive liberation for young people — young leaders will leave with new skills and knowledge for how to organize their communities.
The pre-con was designed to address the fact that young people are intentionally silenced for speaking their truth, their access to reproductive health care is being stripped away, and that society does not value the brilliance and talent of young people. This space will be facilitated through a decolonizing, anti-patriarchy, anti-capitalism, and reproductive justice lens. This pre-con is for young people who come from marginalized communities, have organizing experience, do not have organizing experience, and those who are ready to lead their people.
About SisterSong →
SisterSong is a national reproductive justice collective and the Youth Uncensored pre-con will move through conversations that look at various intersections of social issues, violence, and policy and how young people can build power.
Facilitated through:
Anti-Patriarchy Anti-Capitalism Decolonizing Lens Reproductive JusticeBroadly, RJ has four main tenets — four human rights that anchor every conversation we have at Youth Uncensored.
The human right to have a child
The human right not to have a child
The human right to parent children in safe and sustainable environments
The human right to bodily autonomy
Participants will be able to identify the 4 tenets of reproductive justice and connect them to today's world.
Participants will gain 2 new tools that they can implement when organizing their peers against an issue that matters to them.
Participants will be able to explain why young people's voice and experiences need to be centered in RJ and other social justice movements.
